Whether you are brand new to fly fishing or an experienced angler, my promise is to make your adventure on the water with me as enjoyable and informative as possible. I will teach you everything from A to Z if that is where you feel you’re at. I enjoy seeing growth and success in others, and I will take the time with you to make sure that you have all the techniques, skills and knowledge necessary to catch fish wherever you go. Together, we will work on everything you need to learn to become a more confident and proficient angler. I will accommodate my guiding style to meet your needs and abilities. I have spent years exploring the rivers and creeks I call home in Northern California that holds fish. Allow me to take you the places I go fish on my days off.
About Me
Hello there!
My name is Happy Nguyen. Making the connection is all that fly fishing is about. What attracted me to fly fishing is the energy and enthusiasm that others on the river and in the fly shop share for fish and the great outdoors. I grew up in the western side of Michigan where I first learned to to fish conventionally for bass, salmon and trout on lakes and rivers at a young age with my father. After high school, I picked up and moved out west to California where I first picked up a fly rod. Within a few years of fishing and learning the waters near Sacramento, I decided to give guide school a try to take things to the next level. After completing Sweetwater Travel Guide School in Montana on the Bighorn River, I began guiding through Northern California. In the summer months, I spend my time guiding in Alaska at Iliamna River lodge. From Fall through Spring, I spend my time with guests chasing trout and steelhead throughout Northern California, with shad and striper added into the mix. With a variety of fishing experience from Michigan to Montana, and California to Alaska, My commitment and passion is to simply share my skills to make others better in the lifelong sport, and to enjoy and conserve the great outdoors.
